Big Head and Henry
For my birthday in March, our son bought me a voucher for the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, so this evening I had my treat and we went to see Henry IV Part 1.
I took this shot at the very end, when the actors were taking their bow, as you're quite rightly not allowed to take photos during the performance.
The lady next but one to me had to dash out during the second half when her mobile started to ring, and she didn't return to her seat. I think that was because not turning off your phone is a hanging offence. We didn't see her again, and her partner didn't look overly concerned.
In front of us must have been the tallest guy in the audience. We both tried to peer around him but his partner kept snuggling up to his shoulder, or at least his arm as she was much shorter, so it made dodging them difficult. The two seats next to Clive were empty, so he moved into one of those following the interval.
You can see the size of the man to the left who was an "average" height, compared with the chap in front of me. I know he can't help it, but being of fairly short stature myself made it tricky to see.
I nearly forgot! The performance! It was really excellent and most enjoyable. Neither of us had seen "The Henries" before, or done them at school, and I found it much funnier than I had expected (especially Antony Sher playing Falstaff). The sword fighting towards the end was brilliant and they must have rehearsed for hours to get it right.
All in all a really super Wednesday evening. Thank you son.
