Back on the sea :D

Kyle of Localsh to Staffin Island. 39.1 miles.

Sunday dawned calm and dry as we all went back to school to learn about the cetaceans that could be seen on the trip and how the survey works. After our third cup of tea of the day we set sail, leaving Kyle of Lochalsh and heading north. Shortly after leaving the first sighting of a common seal was recorded. This was followed by another 4 common seals and one unidentified seal throughout the day.

Despite, having a malfunctioning hydrophone we had one possible harbour porpoise detection and thankfully due to the mirror like sea we had 11 clear sightings of harbour porpoise making for an exciting day with the promise of so much more to come.

We anchored up and all spent a relaxing hour or two on dexk in the sun, eating tea, drinking wine and watching the sunset. Bliss.
