Thames barge

This is a picture of the Thames Barge, Vigilant, which is being lovingly restored in Topsham. The barge was built in Ipswich in 1904 as a working barge for the transportation of grain around the coast. It was originally powered by ochre coloured sails which took 3 men to hoist.

I will be following the progress of the renovation and will blip it again when further progress has been made.
