Soaked

Swimming in the morning, it was certificate day and Arlo is now an otter. He's going to lessons without me in the pool with him after the summer, I think he's ready but it's daunting to send your child into the pool independently.

With Tracey out for lunch I took the boys up to the park at the meadows. Obviously Saul was oblivious to it all, but Arlo had a ball - soaked from head to toe in the water fountain thing and scaling ever higher obstacles.

2003 saw the glut of exciting music continue, with bands adding a dance element to their music, which would ultimately lead to the much derided nu wave movement. A far flung cry from the post punk genius of The Rapture, Franz Ferdinand and LCD Soundsystem. It was also a year where I realised that bands/artists were still making noisy shoegazey music. One of those artists was M83 and whilst buying their single the shop assistant pointed me in the direction of Ulrich Schnauss, and introduction that eventually lead towards the discovery of a whole raft of neo-classical goodness. So what to choose as the track of the year? Well it was also the year of the pop behemoth - Hey Ya and this one from a globe trotting superstar. Sometimes you can't avoid the popular.
