A bit dim

Went to the FIFA Fan Fest on the off-chance of getting in and timed it just right - a long but orderly queue was snaking in and we were inside within of minutes. Plenty of room at the back but total body contact as we inched forwards, trying to get past the camera tower that partly obscured the view. I wormed my way a bit further forward than HH and was surrounded by Italians, Argentines and a very anti-England Aussie. All very friendly, though - and the dear little Argentine lad beside me clapped his hand over his cheeky smile and looked sideways at me with big eyes and a guilty look every time he cheered for Italy. The English fans here have been far less visible and animated than most - perhaps they knew what to expect.

Further back, HH was thinking fondly of our sofa and a beer, so we headed home at half time. He wouldn't even wait for me to get a selfie, or while I chatted to some Colombians, which is why my shots are as dim as England's chances in the match.

I was quite glad to be out of there when Italy got their second goal.
