Waiting for Godot bach?

Not Godot, but definitely a literary wait. They're waiting to be given their prizes in the Abergavenny Eisteddfod. Cath won £10, which she has just spent on what should be a rather nice bottle of wine that I'm hoping she'll permit me to share. She and Barry, in the centre, were winners in the English short story class. Mair, on the left, in the English poem class. None of the other eleven or so winners in the English and Welsh writing classes chose to turn up at the Gala at which the prizes were presented. Can't say I blame them. It's a bit of an ordeal! Most of the evening is people singing things, mostly bleeding chunks of operas. There is, it would seem, a school of artistic appreciation that says Loud+High=Good. I like a bit of nuance and subtlety myself.
