Down the Pit

The hidden side of an opera. There was a lot of percussion - vibraphones, xylophones and so on - in Jonathan Dove's opera Flight performed by students from the Welsh College of Music and Drama. A scintillating, coruscating score, a brilliant opera,, brilliantly performed. Definitely proof that it is possible to write an accessible, attractive, engrossing, comprehensible contemporary opera. An inspiration compared with the Song Prize final of the Singer of the World in the evening!
