Solstice Kiss
I went to watch the summer solstice sunset at Pitstone Windmill, having planned a shot with the windmill sails in the foreground.
Half an hour before it was looking very promising, the few fluffy clouds evident were colouring up nicely, but then a small bank of cloud appeared on the horizon.
As the sun slipped behind the cloud, the colours and crepuscular rays were spectacular for a few minutes, then it all went dull.
Other photographers packed up their kit and headed back to the car park, but I waited a bit longer.
My wait was rewarded when the bottom of the sun appeared through a gap in the cloud bank, just as it was setting.
This was the result.
