Kalvik - my favorite beach in Helsinki

As you can see it's way too cold to swim, but we saw people bbqing, kitesurfing and taking walks. It's a very beautiful and popular area to spend leisure time.

Pictures from the boat marina is from Aurinkolahti (= Sunbay) where we had some coffee first.

My husband's brother was visiting so we showed him places we hadn't visited with him before. He's the one in the pictures. Kalvik is one of my favorite places in Helsinki. As a child I loved that beach. There's such shallow water that it's usually very warm to swim in.

First it was really nice and sunny and as you can predict from the clouds, it started to pour. When we got back home, it hadn't rained at all back at home, strange since we were only few kilometers away by a straight road over the sea. The rains seem to be very local.
