Deforestation

I stopped on my way home from Nelson to take photos of the low lying cloud. I got some reasonable shots of cloud weaving up valleys then turned around and saw this.

The deforestation isn't as bad as it appears. This is a man planted forest, and trees will be replanted where these have come from. The trees are an introduced species and the timber is used for framing, paper pulp etc.

I liked how well they've tidied up and the patterns they've left behind.

I'm off out for dinner now - to celebrate the winter solstice (here in our hemisphere). A seven course dinner no less! I suspect I'll be suffering from serious bloat by the end of the night.
