Interesting times
Tuesday's Senate election has major national ramifications. The seat was formerly occupied by Edward Kennedy is now being filled in a special election. The Democractic party has a filibuster proof majority in the Senate and this will change if Massachusetts (MA )elects a Republican.
The odd thing is that MA almost always elects Democrats and so you would expect an easy win. However, that does not appear to be the case. There is a serious battle between the Democratic and Republican candidates. The race is extremely close and the outcome is uncertain.
I find the entire situation curious; it certainly seems to be a strong statement. I cannot help but wonder if it is a reflection of the Democratic candidate or potentially larger dissatisfaction with the government. Regardless, it appears to be a strongly polarizing election and the outcome will be interesting.
