The Floral Clock
A major feature in the centre of Edinburgh is the Floral Clock in Princes Street Gardens. Several other blippers have blipped the clock at various stages. I was in town around lunchtime and walked through the gardens which were full of people at leisure, picnicking or reading books or just lying enjoying the sun. It's a lovely quiet way to go the length of Princes Street. At one end of the gardens lies the Floral clock. Gardeners used 40,000 plants and took two months to create the animal design, complete with the zoo's centenary. The clock has been a feature since park superintendent John McHattie designed the first one in 1903. Much of the work is done from the ladders.
