In the green

I have always had a bit of a thing for green moths!
I am not sure if it's the colour, or what, but they have always been among my favourites. I was really pleased when I emptied my moth trap this morning and saw this beautiful pristine Common emerald Hemithea aestivaria sitting on one of the egg boxes.
The Common emerald is easily recognised with distinctively shaped wings with chequered fringes , which are a beautiful jade green colour. Sadly like most 'emerald ' moths this colour soon fades to a sort of straw brown :-)
It is a common moth in the southern UK, flying in parks and gardens between May and July
