Lily
But not the bud I showed last week!
Lilium regale is a trumpet flowered lily, native to western Sichuan in China. It was introduced to England in 1903 by Ernest Henry Wilson. A long-lived, stem-rooting bulbous plant which can grow up to 2 meters high, though 1.2 to 1.5 meters is more common in the garden. This one, flowering for the first time (seed sown Jan 2012) is just 50cm tall, next year it will be bigger :-)
Back from the school trip. I went as a parent helper in case Amy 'wobbled'. She was mostly fine but had a bad night last night so we're both shattered now but overall it was great fun.
