Final Leg of Spanish Circuit

This lovely structure is a threshing floor situated close to the edge of the village of Archez and at the end of the very steep descent path shown in the previous Circuit blip. The seeds of the wheat were separated from the chaff here before being taken to the mill for grinding into flour. The origin of the threshing floors is thought to be Roman and many of those that survive date back to Muslim times. They had to be built in light airy spaces and the ground would have been made level and embedded with pebbles which was no easy task in such hard and stoney terrain.
Some of my Blip commentators have marvelled at the amount of walking I have done. I confess this a route that I have taken many times in late autumn and early spring but now, in mid June with fierce sun? No, I took the car to key points each time. It still gave me much pleasure and I hope you enjoyed the trip.
We are on the midnight flight home this evening, fully refreshed and raring to go!
