Brotherly Expedition

Jonathan and I went on a expedition today to the Matilda Bay Brewery over in Port Melbourne. After working in the morning I picked him up and we headed into the city. The other week Jonathan participated in a Good Beer Week event from which he got a coupon book that had discounts for a whole bunch of pubs and bars that we were keen to try. One of them was for the Matilda Bay brewery and as we are fans of their fat yak pale ale and hadn't been around Port Melbourne before that was the one we chose.

We tramed it out of the city, but as no trams head close to the brewery we still had about a twenty minute before getting there. On the way I got this photo. After crossing these tracks we headed into what was much more of a warehouse district and I was becoming concerned with what exactly we were heading into. It was perfect, out of the way for sure, but set up very comfortably and doing pretty good business.

After lunch and a beer we headed back into the city where we decided to treat ourselves to further beers at a bar on the yarra river. The beer we chose was still made by Matilda Bay, a cloudy ale called I.G.P. which stood for itchy green pants. The day continued as such with the two of us wondering around the city with no real itinerary simply finding fun things to do, and good things to eat and drink. It was excellent.
