'Cause I am a champion

Interesting start to the day as my beautiful girl (hence forth known as MBG to save my typing!) decided to be nocturnal and was feeding every hour or so. I shouldn't be surprised as most of her activity when in me was overnight. But I managed and got enough sleep to feel refreshed.

We had plans to get loads done today - the fella was going to go home (to get some more clothes especially for him and to have a shower) and to mothercare, I needed to get discharged from the ward upstairs to the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit ie where we're staying), visitors to fit in, spending time with MBG, feeding her and feeding myself! In the end everything got done except for the mothercare trip but it literally filled the whole day until we went to bed at 11pm! So any thoughts of time passing slowly in here were well and truly banished.

It was especially lovely to see my bro and sis in law - I know most people aren't fans of hospitals but my bro really doesn't like them and especially this one as 15 or so years ago he had a stroke and was in here for 3 months followed by a specialist unit for another 3 months for rehab. He recovered brilliantly and you really wouldn't know it had happened but obviously being here brings back memories. So I was touched beyond belief that he came anyway to meet his niece. As we're in the NICU only me and the fella can hold her but think they just enjoyed meeting her and chatting with us. They bought great gifts of a Ewan the dream sheep (which apparently will be invaluable to settle her at home) and an Everton baby grow.

The fella's parents also came for their first visit since the difficult one on Thursday evening and think they were delighted to see how far MBG halls progressed. They were desperate for cuddles but won't be long.

Having been so adamant that the World Cup was so important, I have to confess I watched about a minute of the England game after a feed before deciding to prioritise sleep. But I did see some of the Costa Rica game (hahaha cheating Uruguayans!) and the highlights on BBC red button of yesterday's matches. Netherlands looked awesome both in their football and in the kit - who knew the Dutch could be so cool.
