Peekaboo!

Just a handful of shots today. Still feel crappy but my temperature has come back down to close to normal. Rather glad as it means I am able to watch baby while my wife was able to take fancy pants to kindergarten for a parent and kids day. Not exactly the rest she deserves but a change of scenery at least.

Nipped into the garden for two minutes and found this baby praying mantis. There are some more shots on Flickr (not hiding) and some from yesterday that I took before I started to feel too crappy.

I've seen a couple of these baby mantises. I hope they grow up big and strong as only one of these in the right place will keep all manner of bugs away from the fruit in my garden.

Growing up in the UK, the only place I would have seen one of these would be in a David Attenborough presented documentary. An adult praying mantis is a fascinating creature but even with a tiny little guy like this you can see that you are being watched as much as doing the watching. Anyway this one put up with me for a while then disappeared under the daisy. The bright green background is my compost bin.
