Blue Blue Moon!!
Manual Settlings Challenge: Day 13
It's day 13 of my challenge and without a doubt this was my most disappointing effort so far (in my humble opinion hat is). No, the moon wasn't really blue, but I was when I looked at my images I had taken of the full moon setting on my computer. Yes, they were ugly, ugly, ugly, like really ugly!! I realise that I really don't have the capability to photograph the moon in such a dull light. However, because the sun was rising just on 30 minutes later I decided to cut my losses and try and lift my spirits!!
Leaving the photography aside for a moment, it was truly stunning out at "The Port" this morning. The moon was just wonderful and it was really joyful to see it setting just before sunrise. And then the sun rose and while we waited for that to happen we noticed little boats taking off from the marina and a beautiful Catamaran sauntering out to sea.
We found a little park bench facing the ocean while we waited for the sun to rise and sipped our hot cup of tea. Not a soul in sight You simply can't buy moments like that. Good old CCN put all her trust in my time schedule this time and lucky for me, the moon set and the sun rose right on cue.
On a technical note, my moon images were incredibly grainy and simply did not reflect what I saw before me. Out of interest I took one image on the automatic setting for Night time shots. I noticed that it took the ISO up to 10,000. On manual I couldn't get it any higher than 3,200. I assume that this may have contributed to the grainy result.
I'm really tempted to return tomorrow and see what happens when the moon sets an hour later. I didn't have a Jack Russell for nothing. Nothing wrong with tenacity!!
