Flotilla!!

Manual Settings Challenge: Day 12

I've just come back from "The Port" which is right at the mouth of the Burnett River near Bundaberg. I headed out there really early this morning to do a dummy run on how long it would take me. There's a big day coming up and I want to be prepared, no blunders this time. Yes fellow Blippers it's the full moon setting at almost the same time as the sun rises.

I found a great spot to set up the tripod and patiently waited for the sun to rise. I must admit I was practising a lot of different settings in line with my Manual Settings Challenge. After taking about 3,000 shots (well it seemed like it!) I decided to pack up and head for home. Surely there would be one good shot out of that lot!

Just as I put the camera in the car at least 20 pelicans did a fly by and I was determined to see where they were hiding. Well I found them along with about 1000 little black water birds (I have to find out from a local what they were).

This image really amused me. It was like watching the Queen Mary come into dock with the three pilot ships at the front guiding her into the Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay. The great ocean liner was more than happy to be escorted by a flotilla of little boats welcoming her into port after a long stint at sea. Am I going mad or did my internal video just have a Blip Moment!!

I think it's probably worth viewing the LARGE version of my fairy tale!!

Just in case you're interested fellow blippers, tonight the sun will set approx 30 minutes after the moon rises and tomorrow morning the moon will set approx 30 minutes before the sun rises. At least in this part of the world!
I have this on good authority. Perhaps there's a challenge in this for those of you who are brave enough to take my word for it!!
