Ashamed
Well what can I say. I often refer to myself as fast becoming either a birder or a twitcher. Well today I want to disassociate myself from all of them. I apologise for generalising and I realise that not everyone is the same. I am ashamed and really hope that what I saw today is nothing to do with my recent posts of the Hobby.
The following sign is obscured from my photograph but would have been clearly seen by these seven people as they maneuvered the wooden structure to get up to the dune, it reads as follows:
NO ACCESS
Please help us stop erosion to this ancient sand dune.
These sand dunes were formed around 725 years ago. Constant use by visitors damaged the vegetation and the erosion process begins as the exposed sand is gradually removed by wind and rain.
To enjoy the view please use Quarry Hill next to the car park where steps and a seat are provided.
Thank you.
I thought there was a Birdwatchers Code of Practice, these people obviously are totally unaware of both it and the countryside code, I was appalled at what I saw but to challenge them I would have needed to either climb the dune myself or shout, thus disturbing other users and residents of the reserve.
