Event 53: K4

For the second week running, Els and I spent our day off paddling around on the Chelmer. We had a steep learning curve up to the K4 this week (having earlier watched the pros get into the boat for the first time and immediately tip out into the river). I managed not to fall in this week, but Ellie took a dip. It was such a lovely morning; dragonflies and damsonflies hitched a lift on the front of the kayaks, and I even had a go at paddling a proper wooden canoe. It was great to get the K4 ticked off for our Olympic Challenge and here I am paddling from the second seat. It was so tricky to keep balanced, I can't quite believe we didn't go in!

We'd dragged my Mum and Ellie's Dad along to take photos, and afterwards Mum and I went into Chelmsford for a tasty lunch and wander round some shops. I spent the night at my penultimate pottery class, glazing like mad in the hope of getting everything finished for next week.
