Lady's Mantle

Another miserable day, so this is just what a lady needs to protect her from the rain!

This is a study of a leaf of Alchemilla mollis, an herbaceous perennial forming a clump of softly hairy, light green leaves with scalloped and toothed edges. It has small, bright yellow flowers borne in large sprays just above the foliage. Mum and I both recall an episode of the BBC's Gardener's World with the late Geoff Hamilton, when he noted that these plants are hard to cultivate - but we beg to differ, as the plants are rampant in our gardens, and the RHS notes that they often seed freely!
