The salt ship
MV Aasvik moored alongside pier no 3 in Stornoway this morning. The cargo, roadsalt from the mine at Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland, is a tad late in coming. The ice on our roads and pavements is melting now, and it'll probably be gone within a day or two. But as Council stocks of salt had run out altogether, a replenishment is certainly in order.
