Barracouta getting a Blue Cod.
A lot more rain today, but we went fishing anyway. This is a Barracouta jumping up to get a small Blue Cod that PJ had on his line (the picture doesn't show the line).
I had caught one a bit earlier, but all of a sudden there were 3 of them trying to get the fish off PJ's line. They got one, but when he lifted the remaining one up, the Barracouta jumped up to get it, but it didn't managed to pull it off the hook.
We had a net out, and got a few fish in that too. There was a Hoki with a large bite out of it, M said it was most likely a shark. After getting enough fish for our dinner, we cruised back to Ketu Bay.
Pohenui Isle, is where M was brought up, as his family had owned the farm for many years. He is always so full of stories about his time in the Sounds.
Showed us the very steep hillsides on another farm, that dropped down into the sea. He said they used to get all the scrub off these, by putting a crowbar in the ground, tying a rope to it and then themselves, then lowering themselves down the steep parts with a axe to cut out the scrub. He commented that it looked that it hadn't been down for a while, as the scrub was starting to grow back.
