Chamois cooling off in the Snow!

A present for our efforts today! Still hunting elusive alpine flora, high above us we spotted movement on a large snow patch. A whole herd of chamois were there, but a large falling rock from the cliffs above sent them scattering. However this female and her friend stayed put, clearly enjoying the coolness of the snow on the hottest day of the year. In large, you can see that her coat is rather tatty as she sheds it after the winter.

There were many other blippable alpine moments of butterflies and flowers today, which I have popped into Flikr for those alpine enthusiasts amongst you, click here.

A huge THANKS for all who sent yesterday's mountain view into the spotlight!
