At The RHA Opening

Both of my cousins, Pat and Dave (Slant) have works this year in the RHA (neither of their works are in the image above BTW, as it was too crowded to get good pictures). It's the first time for Dave; his picture is in the brochure too and got a mention from Cristin Leach Hughes in her review of show. Well deserved, his portrait of two men having tea in a cafe in Granard is absolutely brilliant, not only a portrait of the men themselves, but also of a rather stubborn place and time. It's as good if not better (I think) than anything I've seen by Martin Parr, whose work I've always liked. To give you some idea of what it's like, here's a rather poor copy of a (framed) print, which Dave kindly gave me some time ago.
