The Old Library at Trinity College

Dear Diary,

This is the spiral staircase in the old library at Trinity College, Dublin. I came to see the Book of Kells as a way to complete the circle as it were. I was on Iona, where it was written. It went to Kells in the 9th century to escape Viking raids and then to Trinity in the 17th century to evade Cromwell's rampage. It has found it's sanctuary in these hushed halls.

The library was so impressive. Standing amongst the rare texts and beautiful sculpture of great writers was humbling to say the least. You could only photograph here, and discretely. I just had to remember this staircase...lovely.

Standing in wonder of the mind of Man...
