Isolation Ward

Woke early hours of this morning feeling very hot and shivering at the same time, temperature at 38.1..........so rang Chemo advice line and of course advice is get to A&E as soon as you can as you may be neutropenic so need bloods test and meds!

Fast tracked through to be assessed and into start treatment within half and hours, excellent service and then it all went down hill.

3 attempts to put cannular in that then wouldn't give blood, 4 attempts to take blood from back of my hand. Nurse gives up, gets Doctor who decides my foot will be best option, more painful but successful first attempt. After that I have intravenous antibiotics etc. Then severe upset stomach sets in, samples taken. Then 14 hours later I am admitted to an isolation ward and put on drip. I feel like absolute hell and I am scared.

The NHS is a wonderful thing and I hate to be critical after all the wonderful care I have had but my experience in A&E this time was not good and I am terrified of having to go back there.
