Joy in the music
On the eve of the Rose Festival Parade in Portland, people are allowed to camp downtown along the parade route. For the past four years, unhoused people have camped together in solidarity on the parade route to call attention to the importance of allowing those who have no indoor homes to erect tents to protect themselves from the elements.
Tonight there were two organizations serving food, and there were a couple of short but inspiring speeches, a theatre piece, several very talented musicians, a couple of people reading poetry, a juggler, and a man who tap-dances while playing the saxophone.
It was wonderful to see many old friends from the Occupy movement, to collect a great many images in amazing late-day light, and to share in the joy of the moment.
Set (some pretty marvelous moments).
