'Thankful for Peace'

Today is D-Day.....and its the 70th Anniversary. There have been many commemorative services today...particularly in Normandy...to remember and give thanks to all those brave young men and women! It was wonderful to see so many of them together in one place.......and to see the love that was extended to them all after all these years!

We spent the day at 'Hinton Ampner' National Trust. Another beautiful property with so much history. An elegant Country House and beautifully tranquil garden set in a perfect landscape. The house was rebuilt by Ralph Dutton, after a catastrophic fire in 1960. Sadly it has been severely damaged again by last Winters storms and there is a huge restoration project going on...mainly on the top floor.......when the roof was stripped the dreaded Asbestos was discovered. Consequently this is a mammoth task to remove and repair and is costing about half a million pounds (and the rest).

We stayed there all day.. having lunch and afternoon tea...the weather was glorious.

My Poppy is for remembrance!

Home tomorrow!
