Happy Dog
gets to stick his head out the window as we drive through our neighborhood to the house.
He spent most of the day at the Vet.
8 hours!
His blood pressure was monitored, they took bloodwork and urine samples, and gave him fluids by I.V. with oral medication.
All because we weren't quick enough to remove something from his mouth that he found at the soccer field. After we got home from our jaunt at the park, he didn't want to eat his breakfast; then he got listless and wouldn't eat his most favorite treats.
I felt his nose.
It was dry.
He could barely hold his head up.
We packed him up in a dog quilt and carried him to the car (he started dribbling urine) and drove to the Vet's.
When we got there he actually got up on his own and walked (sort of - it was like watching a drunken sailor wobble) into the building, dribbling all the way to reception.
We told the receptionist we thought he had ingested something poisonous.
He was whisked immediately into the back room.
When the Vet came out she told us was she was pretty sure (from the way he was acting) that he had ingested Marijuana!
Well!
That could be true since there are some people who smoke it at the park (some surreptitiously, some not). Periodically I have found empty Medicinal Cannabis containers as I walk Nevada around the park.
It seems that the Vets see this sort of thing more often (five times already for this year!) now that buying Pot for medical reasons has become legal.
So they had to get it out of his system before it did damage to his organs.
Which is why he spent most of the day at the Vet.
8 Hours!
I am really glad they were able to help fix the problem.
deep sigh.
Recently I've had enough trauma at the Vets to last me a L O N G time.
I prefer to stay away for quite some time.
Here's hoping.
