Originally there were 6 separate strips of different glazed on the outside. From top to bottom they were:
Z 4Blue
Lavender
Metallic Black
Malloy
Tin Mammo
OSBRBR (Oxidation: Sky Blue, Reduction: Bright Reds)

I have learned that Metallic Black quite often acts as a flux agent, making other glazes more likely to run.
When the Z4 Blue and Lavender ran together they flowed right into the Metallic Black, which blended all three into a runny but darker shade of blue (compare blue colours at top and middle).
The side you see experienced more oxidation than the unseen side.
I know this because oxidation makes Lavender "snowflake"; the OSBRBR on the bottom is not reddish (which would signal reduction); and on the unseen side where there was less oxidation, the three glazes completely covered the Malloy strip as they ran.
It appears that Z 4 Blue creates a crackly effect also.

I really like the cool colours and snowflake effect, so will probably try out a Z 4 Blue and Lavender combo again.

Ginny in class suggested this piece not be a vase, but a bathroom toothbrush holder since it has a nice wide flat edge on top and it is the proper height.
I think she's right and have changed the designation.
