Tree Sculpture
This sculpture is in Fishponds Wood Nature Reserve in Acomb, York. It is formed from a whole tree trunk which is still rooted in the ground. I do not know the significance (if any) of the subject!
The site was originally part of Acomb Hall grounds - and it is believed that the ponds were used to stock fish for use at the hall. The Hall is no longer there - it was purchased by York council in 1920 and was used a maternity unit and then geriatric care facility. It was demolished in the late 1980s.
