The Hatch In The Wall
Finally a bit of sunshine and warmth late this afternoon.....
Today's blip is of a little 'hatch' in a stone wall along one of the lanes we walk along.
I have often wondered what it might be for - perhaps a means of checking visitors before opening the drawbridge?
A few years ago it was covered in a creeper plant - the remnants of the stems can be seen at the top of the gate and there are a couple of patches of missing paint on the gate itself where the plant adhered.
What caught my eye today was the strong shadow cast across the wall by the entrance gate to the right.
