Parc De La Villette

Today our class explored a park like no other. I have been to many parks/public spaces but I have never experienced a park like this one. This park's scale is large filled with all kinds of program elements that attracts a large variety of users. Bernard Tushimi was one of the main designers to contribute to the design of Parc De La Villette. His emphasis of the color red in the landscape makes such a bold move to a person's eye. The architect's abstract forms of red repeats all throughout the park. The style of the deconstruction architecture makes the park feel ageless and timeless. Each space seemed to be extremely successful being full of people. I went back after we had been there all day and got to experience a whole other side. The park's lighting is the best that I have ever seen casting a glowing red LED neon light throughout the park. The park has hands down moved up to be my favorite park I have ever been to.
