When I tell people I work in Brighton's iconic, notorious New England House - a Sixties brutalist pile once voted the third ugliest building in Sussex (you should see the other two), about to be reinvented as Brighton's digital hub - people who don't know it always ask what it's like inside. To which the answer is, much as you'd guess from the outside - a place of painted breeze-blocks and lino and dark corridors leading to units where a fairly random collection of artists, craftsmen, IT companies and charities can be found.

And, tucked away in a quiet corner, a few feet down from the door to my own workplace, this little chap. There are wall paintings nearby (not long ago one of the tenants, in a flight of whimsy, engaged an artist-in-residence to brighten up the area outside their unit) - but he's totally different. I do wonder who drew him and why.
