Busy...busy...

The blue tit parents in Willow Tree Hole were beavering away this morning. The weather looked ominous, was very overcast and I think they were making the most of their opportunities. Flying in and out of the hole in the tree trunk there was quite a food production line running and there needed to be. I could plainly hear quite a commotion in the nest when mum and dad were away and even caught sight of a yellow beak peeking out at one stage. Nearly ready to fledge possibly!

Their diet has consisted of juicy caterpillars, seeds and insects by the look of it brought in and out again at speed carrying the fecal sac to deposit away from the nest as seen here. They had been a bit wary as the magpies have had two youngsters and the four marauding birds spend a lot of time up in the top of the willow searching through the branches. When I'm around the magpies clear off so this blip is doing the babies a favour! Fingers crossed for them.
