Male Wood Ducks
I am so tired I'm having trouble getting a decent sentence out. Sheesh. Think I'll try some phrases...
Ian's last day. His flight out of Vancouver BC at 8 pm. No easy shuttle from Bellingham. One of our favorite places is Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary near Ladner, BC, south of the airport.
Clever plan hatches in my brain... let's all go up to the bird sanctuary for the day. So Steve, Arvin, Helena, Ian and I headed up around lunch time. First we ate a really delicious lunch in Ladner at a Greek restaurant. Then we went up to the bird sanctuary and spent two hours meandering around. It was pretty bare of birds. We've been there when you had to be careful of where you stepped because of all the ducks. Not today. But there were many Canada Geese and their babies. We had a great time anyhow and did see some lovelies, including these two male Wood Ducks along the bank of one of the waterways. They are such beautiful birds.
Now it is very late and I am off to bed. It has been a good long day. Right now it is midnight and Ian is in the air somewhere on his way to London. From there he'll fly to Amsterdam. It will be an even longer day for him. We had such a great visit. We miss him already.
