Iron Age ditches

The banks and ditches around Whittington Castle date from around 500BC when their occupants would have been Iron Age people. This board shows visitors what it would have looked like in those days. There is an Iron Age fort in Oswestry a couple of miles away and a line of workings from that time going into Wales through Welshpool.

Nowadays people can see the ditches but they are covered in wild flowers rather than huts.
