Orientation
This is where I will be working for the next ten weeks.
We arrived here at 9am and went through various trainings (including bear/moose safety training). Then we took a quick tour of campus (quite scenic), and topped the afternoon off with a nice bike ride around town.
All the students in my REU program are fascinating. I think one of the most interesting thing I have learned from them already is how much time I have to explore the world. Most of these people live very freely and just go where their passions take them. Some of them have been in the military for several years, some have been in and out of college, and others are just doing the "normal" track of just four straight years. They all have so much ambition and are ready to see where the world will take them.
In terms of after college, I think their stories are really helping me realize how excited I am for taking time off after college. There are so many places I want to work and live before I go back to school, so why not? (Then again this might just be me convincing myself I'm making a good decision but screw it)
Other notes: I saw a moose today, and celery is hella cheap.
