The Fab... Er... Three

At least they knew it was safe. They'd checked by jumping on it... Just a pity there weren't four of them to complete the Beatles line-up.

There were plenty of footprints, pawprints and even bike tracks on top of the ice on the canal. My sense of adventure clearly didn't stretch that far at lunchtime though as I watched from the sidelines. All I was missing was the peer pressure telling me it was fun... Well, that and the fact I could hear the ice cracking under the pontoon as I walked out to get a clearer shot... But kids will be kids and as far as I'm concerned they've got to be allowed to be (as long as they're quiet about it). Freezing and drowning are both parts of growing up and only serve to make us stronger. I myself drowned 13 times growing up, and one of those was dooking for apples...

Actually, I envy these kids. Growing up I suffered terribly from Raynauds and couldn't bear more than about half an hour out in the cold without losing all sensation in my hands and being in awful pain. A doctor at the time explained that some people tend to grow out of it, and I seem to be one of the fortunate ones. I'll suffer a couple of times a year, but that's it.

Anyway, I really really want to cycle on the ice now though. Any blippers fancy getting a night ice canal cycling blip after work tonight? As an added bonus my luck would likely see me break through where hundreds have stayed right side up before me, so you get an action-freezing-water-cold shot as well.

Off to see Sherlock Holmes tonight. Intrigued enough by the trailers and reviews to give it a go. Ah, and then it's the weekend... Bliss after the first week back in the office (full week as well, none of this Monday or snow skiving malarkey!).

p.s. spotted a Wingpig this morning as we exited the Grassmarket, getting ready to take a stairs-based shot by the looks of it. But given we were in a moving car I didn't think he'd appreciate a call of 'wwiiiiiIIIINNNNGGPPPIIiiiiiigggg....' as we passed.
