Greenlee Lough
What could be nicer than a stroll along Hadrian's Wall and then a trip to a nature reserve with our little god daughters. The weather was kind and the raised wooden walkway across the bog as we approached the Lough made passage easy. Picnic's at the ready our destination was the bird hide on the northern shore.
Swans nest hear, Swallows skim the waters for food and Osprey's are frequent visitors. On a smaller scale otters, adders and dragon flies can all be seen here.
We saw nothing. Were we unlucky? - No we were with a six year old and a ten year old and had forgotten the golden rule - if they're awake the're making noise! Still they did well and enjoyed the five or so miles - we did manage to see some Peahens that had escaped from the local farm - and apparently having lunch in a shed was enough to constitute a great day out. Simple pleasures indeed.
