We're doomed!
We were down in Northumbria for the weekend at the British Orienteering Championships. We left Edinburgh, early (for us), on Friday morning and went to see some of Hadrian's Wall. We went to Housesteads and Chesters, both of which were interesting in quite different ways. Houssteads gives a better view of the wall and is in quite a bleak upland location, whereas Chesters is by the River North Tyne and had an elaborate bathhouse complex, so was probably less arduous a posting. We were staying in Bellingham and went for a walk after dinner. In the gardens of the town hall are these figures from WW2, the middle one a dead ringer for Private Fraser.
