Penny Jones Animal Hospice Open Day

It would have been so easy not to go to the animal hospice open day, I was feeling tired and had lots to do at home but then remembered all the hard work which would have been done by Elizabeth in getting everything ready for the visitors and I wanted to give a donation as I found Misty on their Facebook page. So off I went and of course I'm glad I did. Its always lovely to see the animals which Elizabeth who runs the centre, has taken in over the years. Lots of sad and horrific stories with lots of happy endings too.

The following text about the ponies was posted on the fence. "These ponies, Maggie and her daughter May were rescued from a wagon when they were going to be dropped off at a rendering plant to be made into glue. Maggie's head collar was cutting into her face and both ponies hooves were in a dreadful state. When they first came, May always kept close to mum and both would stand with their heads down looking so sad. Two of our dogs came up to the fence, sniffed noses and befriended them. Soon the ponies were trotting up one side of the fence and the dogs the other side. They began to race each other and the ponies would buck and prance while the dogs barked encouragement. Maggie seemed to be putting a lot of weight on and she eventually gave birth to Joy. Mum must have been in foal when she was rescued!"

If you do Facebook please visit their page. The link doesn't seem to be working here so have taken it of, so just google Penny Jones Animal Hospice and have a look :):)

Just as I was leaving to go out a neighbour popped over to warn me about a swarm of bees which had just landed in a hedge at the bottom of my drive. It was amazing to see so many. Somebody nearby apparently has some hives so I called in to let the owner know and he must have returned them to their hive as they've gone.
