Day 4 - South Uist

His Lordship and I sat on the rocks bordering the beach at the campsite with our wine last night and watched the tide coming in.
The sea was calm and the waves rippled in with gentle runs, almost noiselessly.
We had the place and peace all to ourselves.
Tonight will be a repeat.

An early walk along the beach this morning with the tide on the turn, leaving a delicate line of seaweed strands at it's highest point was followed by a tour of south Uist advised by Snapper.
It started with coffee in the Post Office at Lochboisdale and a hello to Ann the post mistress and then went on a round tour by Howmore, Ormiclate Castle to Bornish and a walk through the machair to the most westerly point at Rubha Ardvule.

The sun beat down, the carpet of daisies, buttercups, and vetch stretched in all directions, while the lapwings and oyster catchers called and wheeled over our heads to distract us from their nests.
Just off the coast we saw nesting cormorants and sleepy seals on a rocky promontory.
It was an idyllic summer's day and weren't we glad we had the sun screen! Even the midges were absent.

Soon we will have a meal at the hotel at Dalabrog and then the beach beckons for our nightcap.
