A Different Drum
...is the title of a book by Scott Peck on the challenges and the joys of being in community. Probably not for everyone, since you have to live on the edge of your comfort zone at times. Occasionally I have come home from a camp thinking to myself "not sure if I will want to put myself through that again". I still remember one spring when more than half the tents sustained significant damage as a result of gales and it rained for days on end. But the resilience of the human spirit is great and we all seem to have learned a lot from the things that went wrong. Best of all, the young people who have grown up with the camps are in general an immensely resourceful bunch, "if a bit dozy at times" (as one of my friends put it).
Anyway it is time to go home now.
If anyone is interested, I put up a series of back blips today:
Setting up the camp
Old Golden Hen
and various others in the following days which I can't link to because the Blip system is currently oversubscribed and can't cope. If you want to see the others, just keep going forward day by day...
