Shame!

After an early morning wet run through the fields, today's main activity was a trip to Dickens World at Chatham. When we finally found the place the exterior and foyer were more than a little underwhelming and my expectations plummeted. Fortunately without grounds as the set is great and our guide worked hard to recreate Victorian England and share the life of Charles Dickens, including giving Carl lines at Dotheboys Hall for some misdemeanour. Earlier Jackson played Pip from Great Expectations in a dark graveyard. The best part was all the background on Dickens' life which gave real context to his works. We all loved it and as we are now 2/2 in literary introductions for the kids we're going to stop whilst we're ahead.

Back for an afternoon in the local hotel pool and now another chilled out evening in our lovely holiday cottage.
