Quiraing

Today's the day ........................ to go over the sea to Skye

Our time in the Outer Hebrides has come to an end. After six days of pure joy, we left the port of Tarbert on the Isle of Harris today - and sailed across the Minch to Uig on the Isle of Skye.

We drove to Portree, where we would spend the night by way of the Quiraing ridge on the Trotternish peninsula. Some of the rugged pillars of rock were catching the last rays of the sun while others were already dark silhouettes against the mackerel sky.

This place is always staggeringly impressive with a stark beauty all of its own....................
