Trumpet Gentian
One of the best things of being back in the Alps at this time of year is to see the process of transhumance beginning as the animals are taken up to the summer aplage's, the refuges begin to open and people return to the middle mountains.
On a stroll along the Les Contamines stretch of the TMB today (in an attempt to clear of heads and start to make decisions) - the pasture was bursting into colour with literally dozens and dozens of colourful little plants - all making the most of the fertile soil and a short season.
The best of the bunch (for us at least) were these beautiful trumpet gentians.
